ORTHOPEDIC MASSAGE
Orthopedic massage is a system of integrated massage techniques that are effective in the rehabilitation of soft-tissue dysfunction. Unlike traditional massage, it involves therapeutic assessment, manipulation and movement of locomotors soft tissue to reduce pain and dysfunction. Orthopedic massage incorporates techniques such as myofascial release of connective tissues, transverse friction massage, trigger point therapy, and muscle energy techniques, all of which improve range of motion, and passive isometric testing.
Helpful in aligning soft tissue, orthopedic massage focuses on pain treatment and improving muscular functioning and is very appropriate when treating musculoskeletal pain conditions or sports injuries and is often used to enhance performance of athletes, dancers and by individuals wishing to improve overall health and well-being.
SWEDISH MASSAGE
A time honored massage, the Swedish massage is recommended for stress and tension reduction. It relieves muscle stiffness and soreness while increasing circulation and metabolism. Swedish massage is exceptional for increasing the level of oxygen in the blood, decreasing muscle toxins, improving circulation and flexibility while easing tension and is best for those needing rest and relaxation.
DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE
Deep tissue massage is similar to Swedish massage but is used to target knots and release chronic muscle tension. Other benefits include reducing inflammation and helping to eliminate scar tissue. The focus is on the deepest layers of muscle tissue, tendons, and fascia (the protective layer surrounding muscles, bones and joints). Designed to release chronic patterns of tension in the body through the use of specialized techniques, a deep tissue massage is recommended for serious muscle tension and chronic muscular problems.
PRENATAL MASSAGE
Pregnancy is a time of tremendous physical and hormonal changes. Due to this fact, we only perform prenatal massage during the second trimester and on. Massage during this time is wonderful to help to relieve low back pain and discomfort, promote greater relaxation, help with insomnia, and improve both the expectant mother and baby's overall health and well-being. We recommend speaking with you OB/GYN before scheduling your first massage.
